(Q) Is there something wrong with my old tank?

(A) As of April 2002 all portable propane tanks must be fitted with a QCC-1 and OPD. The QCC-1 works in conjunction with the regulator to reduce the flow of propane to the unit in the event that a valve was left on or that there is a leak in the plumbing. The OPD operates on the concept of a toilet intake shut off to keep the tank from being over filled. These were changes incorporated industry wide by the American Gas Standards Association. Tanks that do not have QCC-1 and OPD's will not be filled.
